The Christa Sishya Ashram was found in 1936 by Bishop Herbert Pakenham Walsh and his wife Mrs. Clare Pakenham Walsh in ecumenical fellowship with Fr.K.C. Varghese, Fr.C.V. Jonah and Mr. T.O Mathew. Humility and the desire to serve the community regardless of religion, caste, or creed have been the guiding principles of the Ashram since its inception. With the Lord's great mercy and grace, all works undertaken by the Ashram continue to follow this principle.
The Ashram's activities and calls of service:
- St. Gregorious Balabhavan-Orphanage and Boys Home
- Bishop Walsh Memorial School-A Mission School
- Bishop Walsh Memorial Hospital-A Mission Hospital
